I just bought myself a loaded XLT '00 Explorer and am VERY happy with it so far. It's something I've wanted for a few years and just now got able to afford it (I"m a college kid, gimme a break )..
I have a few questions.. any ideas or news I should know about my '00 Expl?? Anytihng you guys would suggest/tell me?
I also have a driver side foglight lens broken out ('doh)... any idea where to get one of those pretty reasonable??
Thanks for your help! I will be around her a lot as I enjoy my new vehicle and learn more about it in general
I'm another new Ford Explorer owner and I have a dumb question. I bought a 2000 (was a leased vehicle) and there's no owner's manual. How do I set the digital clock in the factory installed stero? Help would be appreciated! Thx!
We don't stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.
I am not 100% positive, but you usually hold the clock button in until the clock starts flashing and then use the scan arrow buttons to set the time. I am not sure if the radio has to be turned on or off so try it both ways.
I just set mine... push the "Clock" button along with the long button that starts with an S in the middle at the bottom (not seek, something else I can't think of.. maybe select).

Huh?! There were recalls on the 4.0 Litre SOHC? I have a 2k XLT with the 4.0 SOHC. What were these recalls? The engine runs fine for me. I love the Explorer. It's actually a pretty dang quick truck too. I've surprised a few unsuspecting V-6 Mustangs and Civics with it and put a car or two on them. the 4.0 SOHC is a great engine if you can get it all the way upto 6k RPMs. It loves to rev, but it gets its 210 HP @ 5,100 RPMs, so don't get big tires if you want to go fast, otherwise it won't be that great. Not enough power to spin those bigger tires upto the higher RPMs range.
The only thing I would look for is my suspension is starting to get somewhat loose, and the rear-end keeps wanting to kick out around turns. I am blaming that on the new Good-Years I got on it, and i'm going to mess with tire pressure a bit until I am happy. Also, my accelerator pedal vibrates like crazy when the car is at low RPMs. I'm not sure if that's normal, but it has always done it. Other than that, great solid truck. I've logged 65K miles so far, and zip problems. No transmission replaces, no blowouts, no brakes squealing, good fuel economy for an SUV. Can't say that for my past Buick I owned...POS. Will never buy another GM car. GM
Your 2K should be fine as far as the recalls go, most of them were for the 95?-99. Who says big tires slow ya down, I run 33s and she takes off quicker than my old'98 with the regular 4.0 did with stock tires. High end speed is no problem either... you should see the faces of people when I blow past them on the road!
