Ken Lay in handcuffs, Yeah!

I just saw a picture of former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay in handcuffs, surrendering for an indictment (sp). Now, I know in this country you are innocent until proven guilty, but with what happened at Enron....I hope he goes down, in flames.

don't worry...

He'll probably get a hand slap of probation, pay a small fine, and still end up with billions.
White collar crime does pay.

And if he does time, it will be next to a vacation.

Rob a bank for a couple grand and your looking at 10-20
Steal millions-billions from hundreds of investor/employees and walk.

Jdadamsjr, I agree about the politicians, most should be tried for treason. V-10, Lay is innocent until proven guilty. Horse-trader, you are exactly right. I just don't see how the CEO could not know what was going on right under his nose. We'll have to see what the courts decide. Good thing I didn't work for Enron, I would have beaten him to a pulp.

If his claim is that he didn't know what was going on will he give back all his pay for the past 10 years for being such an incompetent manager?

Ken Lay, who has given thousands to charity and more thousands to both Presidents Bush , once had a fortune estimated at $200 million which has now dwindled to around $20 million. Most of this is set aside for lawyers in the upcoming trial and any remnant will be subject to a mountain of law suits. His chance of "hand slap of probation, pay a small fine, and still end up with billions" does not exist. He has been found guilty in the courts of the media and public opinion which deminishes any chance he might have in Federal Court. Is it possible he had too much faith in Skilling, Fastow, et al.? I don't know, but I am hoping that the upcoming trials will sort it out and put all the right people in jail.

Ken Lay also contributed to ex-President Clinton. When you're that big, you tend to spread the money around to cover all of your bases.

We won't know 'til the trial is over, but it does not appear the political contributions did him much good, so far.

Seems to me they just released some tapes of Enron or Enron types laughing about taking California to cleaners.....some stuff about taking money from Grandma or something. How would you like to have a jury looking at you when that baby plays??

Legal actions like this take forever because they have to unfold the whole mess and do it all so it will hold water in the court system. This system of ours is biased towards the accused for good reason. It's frustrating, but think of the alternative.

I like to treatment the Adelphia boys are getting, too. They made Lay look like an alter boy.
