94 Explorer EGR valve Help!!
I have a 94 Explorer and the check engine light has been on for about 6 months...It is the EGR valve according to the code. I can't seem to find one for it though. The one I bought at AutoZone, Advance, and Pepboys all have a hole in the stem of the EGR valve, the stock one does not and this causes air to flow through making it run like crap. Where can I find an EGR valve for my truck? Trying to avoid the stealer! Thanks!

Have you tried some of the on-line sellers of Ford parts like www.rockauto.com or www.fordpartsnetwork.com. I'm sure if you google Ford parts you'll get a whole bunch of dealers willing to sell parts at a discount.

More than likely, it's the dpfe sensor. However, you may want to know many times anymore the DEALER is cheaper than aftermarket. Not on everything, but on many. It does pay to check it out. After all, I have better luck with oem than aftermarket anyway.

I had the same problem with my 94 and the first EGR NAPA sold me had the hole. I took it back and they got me the right one. The real problem however turned out to be the EGR Valve Position Sensor. I replaced that and the dried out silicone vacuum lines to it and all has been well since. No more pinging under a load and much better fuel economy.
