Exclamation Where to plug in the trailer brake control?? 2002 Excursion

Hi, I am putting an electric trailer brake control into an 02 X limited. It has the factory 7 pin connecter on the back. I have the little wiring harness that splices onto the controller and is supposed to plug in under the dash. But I can't find the plug. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Also does the 7 pin have a terminal that is 12v pos for charging the trailer battery, and if so, is it hot all the time or switched by the ign switch?
Thanks, Joel

Grab a flashlight and look up under the floor board area to the right of the steering wheel. You need to take off the plastic panel under the steering wheel for a good look.

Yep.

Remove the panel under the steering wheel. Look to the right toward the radio. You will see a metal brace for the dash that has a hole in it. Look through the hole and you will see the trailer connector.

Hey I found it! Thanks! It was thru that hole just like you said. But another bundle of wires and a big connector was covering the hole. Once I knew what to look for, I just moved those wires and viola, there it was.

BTW, I am a new excursion owner, just picked it up today. It is a 02 diesel with 44k on it. It will be for my wife and for pulling the camper.

GVWR of 9200 lbs. will probably get you before the trailer weight.

PSD 4x4 X's come in at around 7800-7900 lbs. That only leave about 1300 lbs. for people, fuel, stuff and trailer tongue weight.
