97 EXPLORER Hesitation
My 97 4L SOHC has a bad hesitation when the engine warms up. Changed plugs, wires, fuel filter still does it. As you reach highway speed and set the cruise it feels like the engine electrical shuts off for a split second. I have put a fuel pressure gauge on and ran it down the highway with the pressure dropping off to 30 psi when the hesitation occurs and jumps backup to 35-38 psi to get back to the pre-set speed.I checked the TPS with an ohm meter and the resistance varies with the throttle being changed.Also put a vacuum gauge on and had 20 inches of mercury with the engine at idle.
The crank sensor I haven't checked and cringed at the cost of a new PCM module. Any Ideas.
