you are a step in teh right direction losing that cat!

i would gut the EBPV next, lose the stock intake and such

when my truck was stock i couldnt hear the turbo at all
But, I have lost quite a bit of power. It is a night and day difference. After I cut the cat, had gobbs of power compared to now, something happened over night, just not sure what.

I am assuming your truck is stock, no power chips.
Have you tried removing the intake boot from the turbo and spinning the turbine with your hand. It should rotate freely. I am thinking your turbo is coked up and needs to be rebuilt.

I didn't even think to do this, I'll try it today. No, I have no powerchips, just a 4" exhaust. Thanks.

If it is stuck try rotating it backwards with socket. Backwards so you don't back the compressor wheel off of the threads. You just might get REAL lucky and free it up for the time being.

OK, I finally got around to check the turbo to see if it was stuck or jammed up. It spins freely, and looks clean on the inside. ANy other suggestions? Is there a place to hook up a OBD II diagnostic computer to these trucks or do I have to take it to the dealer? HELP!

I'm out of ideas other than getting it scanned. If you have a failed component or something the strategy of OBD II vehicles is to go into "limp home" mode. And greatly reduced power. But that will light up the check engine light. Hmmm. I assume you've checked for water in the fuel, etc. The lack of fuel getting to the motor will just cause the turbo to not spool up due to lack of combustion heat.
You also mentioned in one of your earlier posts about sounding like it was not running on all the cylinders. That could be a burned out injector harness, clogged injector, etc. All = not much boost.

I'm not sure when they started intercooling these trucks, but have you checked the hose boots to/from the intercooler, as well as the intercooler itself, if it has one? Just another thought.

No intercooler, just boost. I can't find the OBD II hook up for the truck, but since I don't have a check engine light, probably would turn anything up anyway.

One more Idea, try unhooking you battery's over night. Make sure they run completely dead. It will reset your computer and might help. They say to do it when you shim you FPR so your computer will relearn with the new settings. Its a shot in the dark.........

OK, I gave up and took it to the dealer. They said it was a IDM module and it is going to cost me over $1000 to fix! Anybody by chance have a IDM module lying around they want to sell? Is there an aftermarket alternative?

Make sure the dealer has checked the IDM and injector harness's before you scrap the IDM.

I occasionally see IDM's on e-bay for $4-600. Any year IDM will work.

Talked to the tech, he check for everything to include harness. He had a spar IDm and plugged it in. Truck went back to normal, running great. So it was the IDM. I couldn't stomach the $800 fromt he dealer so I picked up two of them for half the price, one to work now and a spare. How often do these things go out? On a side note, the diesel tech is putting in my Predator Diablo chip for a case of beer, gotta love the south
