Might get one...

Hi all,
I have owned two of the Big bronco's but always loved the little one. I've scoured the internet in search of one and might have found the one. It is a '73 The guys email replied with:
"It has a strong running 302 with 3 speed manual transmission, manual brakes and manual steering. It runs and drives well, but 2nd gear is not engaging properly. The transmission problem is why the price is so low. I called a 4X4 shop and was told it would be $700 to redo the transmission. It could also be
something simpler and cost a lot less. I hope this helps. Good body with a little rust on the driver's floor (mostly surface rust). This Bronco compares well to others in the $7500 range. I just sold my own'73 Bronco for $8500. I think this one is a bargain." I was able to get the VIN from him: U1SGLR73395. (It pretty much translates into: bronco from michigan in 1973, I think the S really is a 5). The Pics from what I saw where in really good condition. Looks like it might have been recently painted (might hide rust). It looked actually flawless from the 4 angles he showed me. He's asking 4995. I'm going to take a look at it but its quite a distance. What do you think?

Gabe

one more question...I've seen that some people have different tubs on different chassis. Now the tub has a vin number on the left door jamb along with vin in glove box. I just want to verify that the vin on the chassis is on the passenger side behind the coil on the frame rail? The guy says it has a clear title, but i don't want to get stuck with a vehicle that isn't what its stated.

That price sounds too high for an mostly-stock 302/3speed/drum brake/man steer Bronco with a non-working transmission and some body rust. I would look around for one that someone has already done some conversions on, like power steering, front disc brakes, power brake booster, etc. Location can make a big difference in price. If you're willing to travel, you might get a better deal. I would not pay $7500 for that Bronco if it had a working transmission in it and I dont think $5000 is a good deal wit a bad trans and I live in an area where Broncos are expensive. $3500 sounds like a more reasonable price for that one.
