are heads interchangeable between a 302 and a 351, im wondering because i might get a good deal on a set of world products windsor jr heads that came off a 302 for my 351
The Windsor Jr heads have 58 cc chambers. In order to have the compression ratio at a streetable level you need inverted dome pistons. Like the Keith Black hypereutectic pistons.
The Roush 200 heads are the Windsor Sr. heads (it's a licensing thing) they have 64cc combustion chambers. They really flow. They are intended for high rpm use 3500 to 8000 rpm's. The Roush 180 are the Windsor Jr. heads (it's a licensing thing) they are intended for 1500 to 6500 rpm usage. You will lose some grunt off the bottom end if you use the Roush 200 heads.
well using the roush 180 or windsor junior isnt realy an option to me because of the smaller combustion chambers, dont feel like replacing my reletivly new pistons, anyone have the flow numbers for the roush 200? im just lookin for a set of cheap (cast iron) aftermarket heads to wake up my 351w
I had a website for you, but I forgot the address. It listed all the aftermarket heads and flow rates. You can use the Roush 200's, just be aware that you will lose some bottom end grunt. What cam are you running?
so if the 351 bolts are bigger, wouldnt you need to have the holes in the head drilled out as apposed to using bushings?
If I recall my trick flow heads would have to be drilled out if I installed them on a 351W. I am not usre on this. It has been over two years since I installed those heads on my car.
You can buy head bolts for a 302 that have a larger shoulder on them for the use of 351W heads on a 302.
heres the website. http://www.worldcastings.com/. i think the roush 200 would be fine with the proper cam. your only other choice would be to find some ported E7 heads . you could also go with the gt40P heads but if you have headers already that rules them out.
