Engine ID

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can help me ID the motor fitted in a customised car i own. It is a Ford 5 litre and the engine number stamped above the starter motor is E7TE then either "o" or "c", cant quite make it out followed by an A. Would i be right in saying it was originally a EFI ( now running carbs) roller block 5.0??...could anyone also tell me from the above number what car/truck it was originally from...and what the standard BHP would be as fitted with EFI??..BTW, great forum!

Many Thanks

Andy Slaney

E7TE should be an 87 truck engine and if it's a 302 then yeah, it would be the roller block.

Thanks for the reply mattri ,

Would you ( or anyone else here) know what the compression ratio would be for this motor?..also what type of rockers would it have...stamped, rail???..Reason i ask is i'm hoping to uprade performance, possibly using the Edelebrock Performer RPM package (inlet, heads, cam, carb & headers)..and i need to know if i need to renew or upgrade any of the valve train...any other advice or general comments from yourself and forum members would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Andy

Sorry, that's about all I know for sure. You might check fordmuscle.com they do a lot with the small blocks.

that sounds like the head stamp not the block.

Hi KemicalBurns,

I took the number from above the starter motor ( had to remove starter to view), Would this be the correct number?
