turbo Pipe missing?

I am posting for a friend who has numerous issues with hiw 03 or 04 F350 (King Ranch). It has a diesel and I would think it is the 6.0. He finally took the truck to the dealer and they told him the pipe from the turbo to the engine was "missing". Anyone else experienced this missing pipe and why did they have to remove the engine to fix it. I am not that familiar with ford products I just told him I would look into it for him though so I figured this is the best place to get some answers. What else is going to go missing in the future? Also I appoligise I dont know if it is an 03 or 04.

The engine would not run well at all with one of the pipes from the turbo to the engine missing! Was the truck running ok, then a loud bang and the pipe was missing? You would not need to remove the engine to fix these.

I agree with what you are saying I am a mechanic myself and work on Turbo systems alot but mostly on cars. The truck still ran ok I think. I cannot remember his exact concern but he pulled 4 horses with his truck on Saturday. I dont think this would be possible with no boost pressure. I didnt think the story from ford added up and niether do you apparently. I will try and find out exactally what it was doing before it was brought in for service.

Ok so I acctually talked to him now and found out for one, it is a 7.3 diesel. If a mod could move this to that forum that would be great. also his actual concern was that the A/C did not work and when he turned it on is smelled like exhaust. Also it did not run well and the idle was rough (fluctuating). First time I heard of pulling the engine to fix A/C. I think the service adviser just doesn't what they are talking about.

You only have to pull the engine to get at the pan bedplate. They lift the cab to remove the engine. Definitely not to fix the A/C. Tell your friend to have a friendly chat with the service manager and/or diesel tech. The service advisor is a paper pusher.

The truck is a 6.0l for sure to clarify.I acctually saw the invoice today and it said they re & re the intake manifold maybe to replace the gasket, (hard to tell from the invoice). also the replaced the exhaust manifold gaskets. and they replaced the clutch fan. To me none of that should really have anything to do with the A/C except maybe if the clutch fan was so bad it wasn't turning. But I guess the intake would fix the running rough. And the truck is for sure a 6.0l I saw it today. It only has 40,000 kilometers on it.

I guess by looking at it they would have had to do some major work to get at the intake. Who knows what they acctually did compared to what they wrote on the invoice. It doesn't really matter any way because it was all warranty.

So I get the idea that the 6.0l has some problems.

I know, problem is its not my truck I was just going on what the owner was telling me but I saw it for myself today and its a 6.0l. I talked to the diesel tech at ford for some clarification and he said the charge pipe at the back of the heads was cracked and he had to remove the intake to get at it. As far the A/C goes, the seals at the accumulator were leaking. He said he never wants to do another one of those charge pipes behind the head ever again. apparently these pipes are put in the truck and suspended by strings, then the motor is put in and the pipe is connected, then the body is put on the chassis. He had to remove the Turbo and the Intake to get at it. Sounds like a nightmare. He also did 11 updates to the computer. The is not lovin his ford at the moment.
