Upper Steering Column bearing-75 F-250 w/o tilt

I'm looking for more help. I have an upper steering column bearing that has a rubber bushing around it. The rubber bushing is shot. When you remove the steering wheel this bearing sits right under the turn signal cam assy. I think the ford part # is C3DZ-3517-A (Obsolete Ford parts bushing and bearing, '75-79 F100/350 2wd fixed wheel) I'm not sure this is correct from other info I find. The rubber bushing seems like a bad design. I would rather have some sort of metal to transmit more road feel and have less play. The local parts store said there is a Moog number but they dont/cant carry it. If there IS a newer design I'd like to find it and use it. Can anyone be any help on this one? If no one has any solutions, does anyone know what a machine shop would charge to make the rubber bushing out of metal for me? I've never used a machine shop so I dont even know what to look under in the phone book- Automotive:machine work? machine shops? It doesn't help that I live out in the sticks of KY--Thanks, Charles

I would go to your local salvage yard & get one. They also used them in cars.

Some of our sponsors may have obsolete parts or,
If there is ever a swap meet in your area,go & look for old parts there.
