Question Why cut Boggers?

Is it beneficial to take the time to cut lugs out of my bogger tires, or the difference in performance even be noticable?

Its like a different tire. Makes a huge difference. Cut the little lugs out (a sawzall is a pretty easy way to do it) and you'll think you had an ag tire. Obviously, they wouldn't be a joy on the road, this is an off-road mod.

use a sawzall with a hacksaw blade with the teeth ground of, trust me on this if you use it with the teeth it gets hot, and melts the rubber, and then is a pain, but if you take an old sazall blade, and grind the teeth down it will cut the tire with ease.
Also yes it will make alot of difference in how the tire performs if it didn't NMRO wouldn't bother with making seperate classes for cut, and uncut tires, but it WILL be very obnoxious on road, and will wear out even faster than they do otherwise, plus if you do any mod bogs or mud drags this will automatically bump you into something like a modified, or open class, and you better have some money to play in those classes

i hope you are running at least 1 ton drivetrain! cutting boggers is basically doubling the traction....it will tear **** up! the biggest benefit is the voids b/t the lugs arte so fdar apart it would take concrete and molasses to clog it up even at slow speeds.

i actually have a buddy that ran a set of cut boggers in the rear (they were Ho's actually) and he hated thewm b/c the dug too much! he is used to his wussy-asesd mickey's!

Does anyone have a picture of tread on a cut bogger? I'd like to see what exactly they're doing to them when they hack them up. Is the cut just to improve the void or is it angled to cause the lugs to act as scoops? I'm still leaning toward the tractor tires but I've always been curious as to how the boggers are cut . . . hard to imagine improving the digging power of them.

well I don't happen to have a picture of one (although if you really need on I could get one easy enough), but to answer the question some cut just the smallest lugs out, some leave only the longest lugs, and yes some will undercut the leading edge of the lugs to get them to scoop better, so it all depends on how much you want ot go, if it was me I would go in steps cut the small lugs, and try it if you can still spin them then either cut the leading edges or cut the mid sized lugs out etc, etc. until you can no longer spin them at will, the more you hp you have the more you need to modify them, and the lower you need your air preasure.
BTW my new 35x10.50 boggers already have the leading edges of the long, and middle bars scooped a slight amount

Gotcha, so is that why they call you Cutts? Okay, the cut boggers are making much more sense to me now. Bet that thing would be a nightmare to take on pavement!

For the last 4 years, tractor tires dominated in the outlaw class where I raced, but this year a guy built a new rig with cut 38 inch boggers and he's winning a lot- of course he's also running a 514 BBF thats built to **** all.
