For the last 4 years, tractor tires dominated in the outlaw class where I raced, but this year a guy built a new rig with cut 38 inch boggers and he's winning a lot- of course he's also running a 514 BBF thats built to **** all.
isn't his dad running tractor tires? and up at reasoner they were running real close between the two of them. another guy at reasoner has been running cut boggers and has taken the season points there in outlaw for 2 yrs, I personally think some of the tractor tires are so heasy that they are actually dragging some of the trucks down were as the cut boggers will be alot lighter. Although yours are alot lighter than some of them.
ps yea that ranger with the cut 38s is very fast he is one of 2 trucks that beat me, and it makes my truck look llike I am not even trying
The tractor tires themselves arent heavy at all- its the required steel rims that add on the pounds. After being beaten by Paul when I went to Reasoner last year, I have been considering doing the cut bogger route with aluminum 16 inch rims, I have found a set of rims that I think I can get real reasonable, but I already own the nastyest set of tractor tires ever seen at Guthrie. Still havent decided yet.
Why do you have to cut bogger's? Ca'nt you take a set of worn out tires and cut them to get a few more miles out of them. I mean for competition the boggers have a lot deeper tread, but for the average guy, wouldnt a set of cut street tire work good enough off road?
I guess the next question to ask is how much can you cut off. I have a set of Goodyear wranglers that are going to need replaced pretty soon. But I wouldnt mind having an extra set of off road tires if there was any way I could cut them. I mean if i mess them up, they were junk anyways.
alright girls. Enough with this. Why do you guys think Interco designs and makes tires like these? If these super swamper boggers are the best offroad tire on the market, then why would you mess with them? You know what they look like cut? A set of tractor tires or michelins. Why you would cut these babies is beyond me. To have the same design you could use a tractor tire which would have alot more rubber to work with and would be probably better. With those mid lugs between the larger lugs aren't they supposed to provide some sidewall traction?
If these super swamper boggers are the best offroad tire on the market, then why would you mess with them?
To make a good thing better. Ask anybody who's ran Boggers cut and uncut (like me) and they'll tell you the same thing. Boggers suck for lateral traction, cut or uncut. this is why you see peeps with normal swampers up front and boggers out rear.
Oh, and Boggers aren't the best offroad tire on the market. They are the best DOT approved offroad tire on the market. The best off road tire is an ag tire, clearly. No debate with you there.
Agricultural tire, or, tractor tire. Like you mentioned those are the best off-road tire. The only reason Boggers are talked about so much is cuz they are DOT approved meaning they are legal on street rigs.
Agricultural tire. Look on the back or basically any tractor, and figure those, except 40 inches tall and 16-20 inches wide, then learn how to speak Chinese, cause that's where you'll be going once you bolt them on.
pro you forgot one of the major reasons people cut them, well you didn't forget you touched on it but didn't specify why it makes a difference as to it bieng DOT approved, some classes of mud racing require you to have a DOT approved tire but allow cutting it, where as if you just run the ag tire it will bump you into a higher class that maybe you can't compete in.
It depends on where you race, but out here in the NW running a cut tire bumps you into the open class just like an ag tire. Other places, it IS a huge advantage if the limit is for dot approval cut or uncut because cut boggers will dominate if they have the motor to motivate them. I wish they allowed cut tires out here since I don't have the $$$ to compete with the open class, i.e., 1000hp sand rails etc.
I agree with the lateral traction thing. For my dad's (CID473) funeral, we used his truck(avatar). On the way back home from the cemetary, grandpa, who was driving(I had no liscense) kicked it going around a corner at 30, and the next thing I know I'm facing the ditch, while the truck is covering both lanes of traffic. 580+ HP and a 4500 stall makes it look easy. Then we ran 90 mph @3000 RPM all the way home. Not bad for a 4900 lb. truck, huh?
