If you have a 5 gallon bucket, and a battery charger, do this http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/Electrolysis.htm took me all of 5 mins to scrounge the necessary stuff up and I've used baking soda with the same results. Let it sit for about 5 hours, every hour or so, turn it off, and clean the the electrodes. -4speed
Go to Walmart and purchase a bottle of "The Works" made for toliet bowl cleaning! (.99 cents) Pour enough to cover the article to remove rust from and submerse it. Agitate and maybe brush away the residue with a paint brush. It will be free of rust in less than 15-20 minutes. The stuff has an acidic base so use accordingly and rinse well and paint afterwards.

PB Blaster works very well on rusted parts/tools. I "restored" a 3 foot crowbar that i got from a yard sale for $2.50 this weekend. It was very rusted and the wife said "what are you going to do with that". I used a wire wheel on the bench grinder, got it all cleand up and repainted and the wife was impressed because it almost looked like new!
Coca-Cola has phosphoric acid in it(gives it a citrus taste).
try a product called Ospho, its awesome on anything rusted.
Phosphoric acid is the main ingrediant in most "rust converters"
changes iron oxide to iron phosphate.
In the past I've found that Easy off oven cleaner works well for cleaning and un sticking old rusty tools. I used it on my bench vise and it cleaned up great, afterward I made sure to put plenty of WD-40 on all the moving areas just to help.
Hope it helps,

PB blaster works wonders. When I was working on my nissan 300zx for the first time, I had to remove and replace the cat. converter. The bolts were pretty rusty, but I soaked them with a can of PB blaster overnight, and she came off no problem except the tightness of the bolts, and even then, it was a cinch. Hope this helps

It took me a while to amass the items necessary for this proceedure, but it worked great. I've salvaged several old bench vises (better quality than anything available today), some hand tools and a pair of antique lanterns. This process even removes paint too.
FYI, I've given up on liquid wrench, PB BLaster or Kroil are much better.
