My son has a 2000 Ford Ranger V6 3.0. The check engine light keeps coming
on. A diagnostic test has been run several times all with the same results but
no one has been able to say what the exact problem is. No parts show to
be faulty but after each reset, the light comes back on after several miles of
driving. Any Ideas?
And yes, if the problem isn't solved, the computer will toss a CE light back at you. The point of that is to tell you "Hey buddy, something's wrong here!" and that maybe you'll find a good shop that can diagnose the problem....

Insuffeciant flow can be caused by a clogged EGR port. When you remove the EGR valve you will find a finger sized hole,at the BOTTOM of this hole there is a SMALL port, you need to poke it out with a stiff peice of wire then a pipe cleaner. If this port is clogged you can clear the codes(usually 401) but the CEL will return in a day or two.I replaced the DPFE,EGR,and Vaccum control but didn't fix it until I found this little hole and cleaned it out.
