Order New - USe X-Plan?
1. Can a new vehicle (e.g. 2005 Expedition - Eddie Bauer) be ordered under the X-Plan using X-Plan pricing?
2. If so, is there any pricing protection from the time the order is placed until delivery?
3. If so, and Ford is offering a $$ rebate at the time of the order, will the current rebate apply or will it depend on what type of rebate (if any) is being offered by Ford at the time of delivery?
4. What other "items" should be deducted from the X-Plan purchase price besides Ford rebates?
4a. FDAF/LMDA Assessment?
4b. Dealer Holdback?
4c. Any other dealer discounts?
5. I have a copy of a dealer invoice that shows MSRP, Invoice and X/A plan info. Toward the bottom of the page there are two rows of information for each column heading (e.g. columns for FDAF/LMDA, Invoice Total, Less Holdback for Dealer Account, etc.). Which of these rows of information should I use to determine which items should be deducted from X-Plan pricing? For example, one row shows dealer holdback at $1,285 and the other shows dealer holdback at $3,551.
6. Are all Ford Dealers required to honor X-Plan pricing? What process should be used if I come across a dealer that does not want to honor X-plan pricing or include the rebates, and "other items" which should be included?
Thanks,
Jim
2) Yes. A dealer may tell you that you'll have to pay the higher price later, and then wait for a re-imbursement from Ford if there's a price increase. Hogwash. You pay the original price, even though the higher price shows on the window sticker and the invoice. The dealer should charge you the original price, and then the dealer will apply to Ford for price protection status, which means THEY wait for the check, not you.
3) Ford says it's whatever is in effect at time of delivery. But with the FTE Purchase Program, we'll guarantee the rebate at time of order. If it goes down, we'll make up the difference. If it goes up, you'll get the higher amount. If you're not familiar with our program, see the post at the top of this forum.
4a,b,c) X-Plan price is X-Plan price; it's printed on the invoice. Whether or not these items are part of the X-Plan price is irrelevant. FTE's price is $200 below X-Plan.
5) Nothing gets "deducted" from the X-Plan price; that's the price. We've elected to sell for $200 below that, because we sell to the general public for $200 below invoice. The dealer can only charge you for taxes and registration/ inspection fees. They CANNOT charge you for "documentation" fees.
6) No one dealer is obligated to sell anything at X-Plan; it is a voluntary plan. If you come across a dealer that doesn't want to participate, thank them for their time, leave, and find another dealer.
WHEW!!!
