95 Ranger Clutch
I have a 1995 Ranger 5 speed, 2.3L. The Clutch pedal get mushy and harder to push down after about 30 minutes of running, then is fine again when sits overnight. The clutch fliud is full. I haven't check for leaks yet do to not enuff time yet. I don't think it's the clutch even though it has 165,000 miles on original clutch. I'm thinking it's hydraulic, is there anyway to test the hydraulic systems and/or slave cylinder? Also open to any other Ideas. THANKS.
On the lower left side of the bell housing, there's an inspection port for the release bearing travel. Pull the rubber plug out & have a buddy work the clutch pedal both when it's working normally & when it gets hard.
There may be a problem with the collar that the release bearing rides on binding it.
You're most likely going to be taking the tranny out to at least fix what's wrong, so consider doing a complete clutch system job.
AL.
