I asked my brother that same question a bunch of years ago. And ya know what? I'll be danged if I completely remember. I think it is a resistor, but I'll be danged if I remember what it's for. Maybe the forum for this year truck is the best spot for the question...someone can go out and look at their truck. Gawd, I hate getting older... my half-heimers just drives me nuts!

It looks like it may be a circuit breaker or a turn signal flasher.

It looks like the horn relay for my truck, but I only see two pins on it. What area of the truck did that come from?

It looks like it may be a circuit breaker or a turn signal flasher.

It is much to big to be a circuit breaker and the turn signal flasher is round for the 73-79 era

I would definetly agree it is a horn relay

Again, how many spades?

If it's only two, either a circuit breaker (self-resetting) or a flasher.

My brother put all sorts of odd things into my truck when it was his, a seperate flasher for SOMETHING, don't remember what, circuit breakers, etc.

If it's three, could be a relay, but wired weird. Relays are usually four-spade (SPST), five-spade (SPDT), etc.

A four-spade relay could be setup to only require three spades in certain situations

No, no, no - it's a ... um ... uh ... metal thingy with three connections... um... I've heard this recently... um ... oh! There it is - horn relay !

By the time I got my truck from my brother who bought it new, he had replaced it with a Bosch - he was/is a VW guy afterall and had a few spare parts when the original fried...
