alright, I would like to put an E4OD into my 400m powered '79 f-250 4x4. I have a Trans, wiring, and PCM. I also have a divorced NP205, it's crossmember, driveshafts, and shifter assembly. my question is this- Has this been done before? at the same time, I plan to convert the 400 to F.I. with a Megaquirt DFI box, but thats a different post. anyways..anybody else done it?
You might have trouble with your front drive shaft. The divorced t-cases came in low pinion trucks yours is a high pinion and the front drive shaft will probly interfer with your tranny cross member. That coud be fixed by fabing a cross member. Other than that it should work.

alright, thanks. I'll have to wait and see what It looks like when it's up in the air. I am also considering a lift kit which should help in that regard.
Making the E4OD work electrically will be a challenge. Depending upon original application the PCM needs inputs from the speed sensor in the differential, throttle position sensor on the engine, 4low switch on the transfer case and others.
I do not have a very high regard for the E4OD anyway and am not sure the conversion is worth the effort, unless you know that the trans has been recently rebuilt with all of the available upgrades.
I know the E4OD needs some inputs but I'm not sure of all of them yet. I'm planning to go through the Trans before it goes into the truck, but it worked fine in the donor vehicle (A box Truck) I have Access to a wiring diagram, but I have not looked it up yet. the problem is that I want an O/D transmission for a 460 bolt pattern. also, I kinda just fell into the E4OD. the box truck it previously lived in has had the engine removed for another vehicle, and there are no plans for the rest of the truck.
