300 swap mpg

i have a 79 f150 4x4 with a tired 400 and a c6. 3.50 gears. Looking to upgrade to a 300 six and wanted to know what kind of mileage to expect with a carb Only running 235 75 15 tires and not hard on it. Also if I go to the trouble of a fuel injected engine. What's the best automatic to put behind it. The aod or newer e4od or is there another option. Thanks.

I have a 79 F250 4x4, long bed, with the 300 and 4 speed manual in it. I was getting about 15-16MPG and just rebuilt and upgraded the motor and am running P235/85 R 16 tires. Is a great motor and would be a great swap IMHO. Hope this helps you in your decision.

New rebuilt motor and upgrades is still new so I haven't had a chance to get it broke in yet to see what my MPG will be, but stock I was getting 15-16.
