FER...you need to step back a little..and read what admin and the mods have posted as to what is and not considered political on the site...and if you have a question about the nature of a post...try e-mailing the moderator first..before you finger point...its works for me...
this is the second time i have read this type of remark you have made...
please heed this advice.....the last thing that is needed is alot of people getting uptight......and both of your posts were related to discussion about Flags....i see that you have your flag as a avator..and no one here considers that ''Political"....or says anything about it...just give it some thought..
That is a good link but I do not agree with all of it. Where it says it is not ok to wear a shirt with a flag. I think a shirt with a flag is ok but not a shirt made of a flag.
I asked my kid what july 4 meant and he really didn't know he knew it was independance day but didn't really know what that meant he does now.
T-shirt wear doesn't seem that bad, but it falls under Sec. 8 - Respect for the flag. It's the Presidents job to decide to change a rule.
With modern warfare people in the military go out, fight and die for what the flag represents. Back a couple hundred years ago in battle, when they lined up across a field with muskets, no cover - they would literally die for the flag itself. The flag didn't represent much in the way of national pride back then - the nation was still in infancy. But the flag itself was very important in battle. You didn't really win unless your flag was put up, so if you lost it; better find one quick. By allowing the citizens to make their own flags, it created a supply if needed - like the right to bear arms. Just because people made their own flags didn't mean they could do whatever they wanted with them, (they were for national security), so a list of rules was adopted. The US border lines were kind of fuzzy back then, so walking someplace with your flag t-shirt could be considered an act of war. Just wasn't done.
Well i know i dont fly a flag of any kind at my house, its my choice to do it or not to do it and i choose not to. Just as i choose not to vote, who really gives 1/2 a damn who's president, the man with the best lies and cover-ups will win anyways why waste 1/2 my day voting? I will not ever look down on a person who chooses to fly his / her flag because thats their God given right. I dont fly a flag because i dont have a place for it to fly and i am not digging up my yard to plant a flagstaff. My neighbor told me that it was my duty as an american to fly a flag, and i asked him this "so Ray how many years were you in the millitary again?....oh none thats right well i served my term so my duty is paid brother" I had a lil one flying in the yard on a lil "uncle sam" yard jockey i bought but thats it....hell whats my good ole uncle done for me lately but take money from my check and STILL charge me 7% at the checkout?? hell by the time all's said and done i got about 30% of my check left to raise my daughter on and pay my bills with, so i feel like ive paid enough. I never notice patriotism untill crap like 9-11 happens...there was no mention of "God bless America" in years before that, then there is the removal of "one nation under God" from the pledge, but for a group of people that want him out of their country so bad we sure know how to hit our knees and beg when ***** hits the fan huh? I have no respect for the people in this counrty anymore unless they are a veteran who have served their country or someone who knows what its like to live in poverty and respects the freedom we offer here....thats the problem now with people we have no idea what its like to live in a place with no freedom, we also have no idea what its like to leave your home to fight for your freedom....freedom for your family and friends.....freedom for your children's children's children....only to come home broken or missing limbs, or worse....to not come home at all so with that ill end this pointless rant about the spoiled brats of today and go on working to survive another day.
Peace ;and dont take it personal unless it applies to you and then take it how you see fit

Ironically, fordlover was just expressing his patriotism and his love of his country. You are the one being political. You seem to have a grudge against America, if you are an American or are in the United State of America I would advise you to go elsewhere so you won't be so offended and don't have to live in such an awful cesspool of opression. If you are not American or do not live in the United States of America why don't you just be happy you don't, as you obviously don't want to, and butt out. I find your ridiculous political attacks against innocent patriotsim offensive and foolish. I notice you didn't chime in on the conversations about Canadian patriotism so why isn't that political as well?
On another note, I like to see the flags flying, I remember just a few months before Spetember 11th I was on a trip to Canada with my extended family, to Gravenhurst Ontario, and as I drove through Canafda I noticed a lot of flags flying and I remember thinking that I wish that more Americans took as much pride in being American as these people do in being Canadian.

Been flying the US flag on the front of my house every good weather day since we moved here in 1991. Prior to 9/11 there was only a retired US Marine and me who did so. Now about 2/3 of the 17 homes here fly one all the time.
Fer i posted this thread so that everyone can share thier countries flag with everyone...i'm also of irsh background "children from the sunny side of the hill"
