93 Aerostar Problem
My 93 aerostar has been acting up. After it gets warmed up, it begins to make a "clak" noise in time with the rpm's. It then begins to smoke from the engine compartment. When I opened the hood, the smoke is coming from the driver side, lower part of the engine. When the speed drops low enough, it stalls and then only restarts after a few minutes and a fight with the gas pedal. I haven't had a time to crawl under their yet and find out exactly what's going on.....any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I still don't know exactly why mine died but mine showed these symptoms and they only got worse and then one day she dropped her belts and blew up totally. Now I need a new engine. The symptoms were the same low speeds or starting from a long stop at a light = stall. After a few minutes of warming up smoke from UNDER the driver's side of the engine though mine was tinted fairly blue I expected it was the exhaust (it wasn't). Sounds like you may have overheated the engine and done some serious damage. Even if you haven't get it checked. It may save you a new engine...
