I am currently in the process of purchasing an F250 Crew Cab V-10 4X4. My options include the camper package, the FX4 package, as well as the 4.30 ratio limited slip axle.
Although I plan on doing a lot of off-roading, I only plan on towing a 3500 pound boat. Am I going to regret the increased suspension and gear ratio? Do I have anything else to look forward to other than a stiffer ride and lower gas milage?
I have the super crew 2003 F250 V-10 Fx4 with 4.56 gears(not stock) and I love it. Before I lifted it, it drove like a dream, still does. I would get the 4.30 gears if you are interested in putting bigger tires on it. If not than you could get away with the 3.73s. You'll really only lose about a mile per gallon with the taller gears, if even that. However, with the 4.30 gearing you'll accelerate like a beast.
