Thumbs up lowering 64'

Hi to all,

I am just starting the fabrication portion of my rebiuld and have a question about lowering the rear.......mono-shock or axle flip?

Tiremine and Krosati, you guys seem to have covered both ends of this one, tell me the pros and cons of each please!

I'm open to all opinions!

Mike.

Mike,

For me the axle flip was the best option and wasn't hard to do. It doesn't change the ride, just lowers it. Got a picture of it in my gallery

Thanks man,

I did see your photos and I thuoght it looked like a good alternative. The mono-leaf is an easy way to get the job done but I think I want to get a little more creative.

I want things to LOOK stock so that people have to really look hard to notice the changes.

Pictures will be posted soon!

Mike.

I picked the mono for the simplistics involved. I have yet to drive the truck with the mono spring, but with my 230 lbs on the very end of the frame, I cannot bottom out frame to the axle. I think I will have to notch the frame once the bed is on the truck though.

Ok thanks for the input. I will not be hauling anything so weight would not be a problem.....although I will be relocating the fuel tank...this may come into play.

I am just worried about possible spring bounce and then having to play with different shocks to get the damping right

Ahhhh the fun of customizing!

Monos are claimed to be rated at the oem rates. I hope they are right. I can take a photo of my spring if you want.

I viewed your gallery and that's where I started thinking about the different aproaches that Tiremine and yourself took.

You may get your box set on before I get too far and it may answer all our questions....I will watch the posts!
