First off id like to say hello, new here. First post.
Heres my problem, I have a 86 bronco full size 351 5.8L V8 Fuel injected
I just replaced the voltage regulator/solenoid because i was careless and i arched the 2 bolt mounts.
My engine is cranking but it wont fire,
I have gas.
I have spark
The spark plugs are completely dry. I stick my finger in the plug hole and I feel or smell no gas.
This could be my misteake here but, I wanted to remove 2 hellas (and the wiring harness) that were mounted on the bumper from the previous owner. I made a few cuts..few meaning 2 or so...and now, i have a non starting engine. I tried everything imaginable to reconnect the wires that wernt from the hellas. Im not sure if one of those was leading to the fuel pump. Or if im just loosing it.. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanx
Well, the first thing that I would suggest is to check the operation of the fuel pump. It is possible that the fuel pump just decided to go out on you. When you turn the key on, you should hear the fuel pump activating. If not, you might want to start your trouble-shooting there. I would get a Haynes manual (if you don't already have one) and check the voltage going to the pump. If you have voltage, then the pump probably went out. If you don't have voltage, then you have a much bigger problem. Let me know how it turns out.
I listened for the fuel pump, I heard nothing. I disconected the fuel pump (electrical plug) and I checked for power with a Circuit light. I didnt get anything. After I plugged the power back up to it and tried to fire my engine..I got more than before..It was like a putt...A sputter..but still nothing. I also have a multimeter. Is there anywhere i could start for diagnose this problem? All the connections appear to be ok. I rechecked the fuses, and their all ok also. If the fuel pump isnt getting any power, what would this mean?

welcome. do you have a volt meter? if so you need to find the fuel pump relay. it is probly under the hood driverside just behind the air box. your eec test plug and i believe two other relays are there. unplug it and lets meter the wire that is smallest of the three. it should have 12 volts or more when you turn on the key.if so now well check the other two wires. one should have 12 and the other should have 0.if this all checks out we need to find inertia switch, insid driver side above the highbeam switch.you should have 12 volts on both sides of this switch.oh did you posibly cut one of these wires while removing yourlights, it would be easy to do if the lights were installed with a relay to turn them off when you turn on the high beams.
remember always start simple when trouble shooting and it usually is the simple things that trick us into thinking there is a major problem.
good luckm and let us know the results and maybe we can help some more.
Well,I checked the pump relay. I wish i could take a picture of it to make sure its the right thing. Its green and it has a black top on the plug, Anyways..theres 4 wires. 2 have 12 volts...(11.9) and one got 0. All like u said. Theres also a yellow wire thats cut...that was getting zero volts. If i remember correctly that yellow wire was crimped to a red wire...which ran all the way to my voltage reg/solenoid. Which would be one that I cut. I tried hooking it back up...but I didnt get any luck. As far as the inherita switch goes.... I believe I found it...it was a little black box tucked into the dash, it said (do not drop) and it has 6 wires comming out of it. There was another box, it was brown...had 3 wires comming out of it...2 of the wires had 12 volts..and one wire had zero volts.
Well, The boxes that i thought were the inhertia switches, wernt. I did find it though looking for more fuses..it said "Fuel Inhertia Switch" right on it...i saw a white button up top...figured i would reset it...thinking that if the voltage reg. that I arched probably caused it to shut off....kinda like in an accident. Well, after reseting the thing...and hooking the wire back up to the volt. reg. It fired right up. Uve settled my stomach ache. Thanks for all the help guys.

thats great but a electrical spike would not have tripped it you must have hit it or jarred it hard enough to trip it. but congrats on finding your problem. please if we can help you again let us know thats what were all here for.
