boost

How much boost are you guys getting, if i don't use the bd4chip i get around 10 if i use it i get at most 15 psi boost= also running the 4'' exhaust i bought on gp 2 months ago. exhaust sounds good but i thought i would be getting at least 25 psi boost. maybe i have a problem??

thats a little low should be 17-19 stock with chip exhaust and intake you should get close to 25. check all your intercooler tube boots make sure they are good a tight(all 8 clamps) and check the hook-up on your boost gauge to make sure it is not leaking

Yea I'd say that sounds a little low. With my chip I can hit around 25 or so, and now with my wastegate disabled it will peg the gauge pretty quick. Weren't you having/registering low boost when you first put your gauges on?? Seems I remember you posting something like that - maybe I'm thinking of someone else...

Hey how do u disable your wastegate? Ive been looking at all the sites and no posts on how to do it.

He's got a 1996 so there is no intercooler.

Have you upgraded the air intake yet? My 1997 was VERY restrictive.

i put in a k/n air filter but thats all for air intake. mine is a 1997 also. i would like to try the wastegate mod, see if there is a huge difference.

the first thing you do is pull the red line off of the gold canister on the back of turbo and plug the line(it must be plugged) if you really want to make more power i gave a detailed discription on how to increase pressure on you wastegate(giving you more boost) just click here and look for the "ok just finished the shorten your rod mod" post

You don't have a wastegate on your turbo. I'd also recommend NOT using the K&N, although others may disagree. They are not know for filtering that well and one of our members had a dusted turbo because of one. Check out the Tymar.

im actually not very impressed with the k+n, i am selling the 97 and have a 2001 that i am going to do some mods on.Gonna put on a cold air intake on it, mod to the wastegate, and a ts 4 flip chip or the edge evolution chip. So my 97 has no wastegate? Guess i wont do the mod to it!

whopps, he did not say what year in the post and in my haste i did not check his sig. so what i said is all no good for your '96 however if you get that '01 read on brother read on......

I just hit 26lbs of boost. Tymer Intake,Predator 100hp tune,and Wastegate disabled. Guess thats pretty good. Just need exhaust to help with EGT's. I let it hit 1200 and I backed out of it. Might have got more boost if I stayed in it. What you experts think?
