Just wondering what kinds of power upgrades people have found most useful. I am not looking for .050 sec in a quarter. I am looking for "seat of the pants" feel. I am considering a CIA, exhaust, and maybe a computer upgrade, but I want to hear from people who have done it. I need to know I won't waste $600 and not even feel a difference.
I've done all 3 to my '03 4.0 SOHC. The intake (K&N FIPK) did nothing but lighten my wallet. If I were to do it over again I would simply pull the silencer out of the stock airbox, put a K&N replacement filter in, and save a bunch of cash. The cat-back exhaust (Flowmaster 40 single-in/dual-out) system also had little effect on performance but it looks and sounds great, so I still consider it money well spent. The programmer I recently purchased made a real difference, something you can clearly feel versus stock. It has 3 different programs: 2 towing modes (increased low-end and mid-range power), and a full rpm range performance program that increases power across the board. Of these 3 mods, the only one that shows a "seat of the pants" improvement in power is the programmer, which I paid $400 for (worth it). These are my experiences with these mods.

I have installed both a catback system and intake system. Improved performance, well its hard to tell, I think so. But I will say that my gas milage is up atleast 2mpg across the board. My current average is 21.5 mpg on the highway and 19 in the city. This is with a 4.10 rearend. This alone is worth the price.
I've done all 3. KKM intake, Gibson Swept Side cat-back, and Diablo chip. The chip gives the most power, $229 from motorhaven, the exhaust gave less, but still a noticeable power gain, along with a much better sound, and the intake is makes a difference at the higher RPM's and is noticeable in passing situations. My mileage is up big time. I am getting close to 18 in town with a 4.0 4x4 amd 32" tires, as long as I keep my foot out of it. I can get over 23 on the highway compared with about 15 city and 21 highway before.
