429 head differences?

429 head differences?
Well I pulled apart another early 429 today, the best I can tell it was a unmolested engine. It had original looking head gaskets with ford p/n's stamped into them. the weird thing is that the left head was p/n dove-c, the right head was p/n c9ve-a. is it possible that these heads are deminsionally the same and this engine was built around the time the p/n changed ? Or are these completly diferent heads?

The heads are almost identical. Odds are one of the heads was replaced, maybe under warrenty. Most likely the replacement was the D0VE-C head. It would have been close to around '71 when the C revision D0VE head came out.
