Hello-While or after using the A/C, there is a sick odor coming from the right side of the engine compartment (outside the van). The smell is nor anti-feeze and I don't think it is mold. The A/C blows cold and no odor inside the van using MAX air or Normal. The odor keeps me from working in the engine compartment for atleast 4 hours after using the A/C.
Could there be a leak in the system or is this normal?
This is my first ford so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Reason: Clarification
sounds like it could be an ac leak-it does smell "chemically" bad.and it is coming from the evaporator and drier area. Even though your ac works, it still could have a leak. use your ac, shut down and go to open hood on the right and listen/look for leaks. (a small amount of hissing for a few seconds is ok). you can also try buying a leak tester.
Just a thought, but did you check the engine compartment for dead animals or animal parts? One of my friends lost a cat who found the engine compartment to be a nice warm place to take a nap in.
The other place to look is in the cowel area just below the windshield. The space is covered by a plastic grate, and while it keeps most large objects out, small stuff can still get in there and decay. This is where your HVAC system gets its air.
