a few questions
i have an explorer sport mfg on 7/94
?1 what do i have for a transmission it's an automatic with o/d
?2 do i have the traction lock in my rear differential ie clutch plates
and i also have a problem and i am not sure what the answer is
i am traveling down the road and when i come to a complete stop i could be stopped for a few seconds then i release the brake to take off again i hear a clunk and the rig feels like its in neutral the quickly goes to drive now would that be my differentil slipping if i have the traction lock or is it my tranny tranny slipping or my vacuum diaphram short on vacuum prressure
2. You'd have to check axle codes (either on the door jamb or the tag on the diff) to tell if you have the traction lok differential. I don't know though the information is out there how to interpret the door pillar codes, the code on the diff tag will contain something like 3 73 or 3L73 on the second line. The L means traction lock, without the L means open diff. the numbers represent the gear ratio(3.73).
As for your problem, I'd look at the transmission. The differential, open or limited slip, shouldn't contribute to a hesitation like you're describing.
