2 single E din install

Has anyone ever installed 2 E din units on the explorer or sportrac? I see numerous posts for double din or 2 din installs but I want to know of E din installs as the pioneer and alpine units are e,i,ans j din compatible. I have heard of people filing edges of the dash trim but not much for e-din cd or in-dash changer units. Thanks in advance.

The "E" in E DIN is refering to the depth of the radio. DIN is an abreviation meaning standard size but in another language. The opening in your dash is a double DIN size so you can fit 2 din units or 1 double din unit in the dash. The problem will come as will the 2 units fit all the way into the dash. The factory radio is kind of short as is becoming the trend for OEM because the "guts" are hidden else where in the vehicle. I have a E-DIN sized radio in my X and a 1/2 DIN EQ. The radio itself was not a problem until I addes the EQ b/c of all the extra wiring. I might try calling a company like Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) or Scosche (www.scosche.com). I have found both of these companies to be very helpful when finguring out if something will fit. Good Luck!!!
