I have a 1999 f-350 4x4 all disc brakes. I found that my rear passenger caliper was frozen and had a bad cover. Could someone tell me step by step how to remove , replace and bleed the caliper. Thank you so much.
I have a 2000 Expedition and took the wheel off today. The rear caliper appears to be a non removable item without disconnecting the axle. Is that true?
after removing tires, you will find theat the caliper mounts to the disk by 2 large bolts(there are 2 pairs of bolts going into the caliper...remove the largest pair).
carefull not to let the caliper fall to the gorund once the bolts are out(may use a jacstand or a firm grip!).
disconnect the brake line from the caliper by one nut and set caliper on ground...now you are ready to swap the brake pads from the damaged caliper into the new one... loosen the remaining 2 bolts and pull jaws apart a bit so that you can pop the brake pads out(apply pressure on the smooth side of each pad...and they will pop out)
reinstall pads into new caliper, tighten small bolts and attatch caliper to disk with large bolts.
attatch brake line to
caliper by bolt...
now to bleed brakes, make sure that there is plenty of fluiid in the reservoir(dot3 heavy duty brake fluid). the bolt used to bleed calper is covered by a plasitc nipple...remove this and put a wrench or socket on it... have someone get intruck and crank it up and press the brake frimly and slowly all the way down....while they do this -loosen the bolt for a half second or so...
repeat this procedure until fluid comes out(usually takes around 3 or so pumps).
each caliper must be bled, since you introduced air into the lines when you temporarily diconnected the brkae line from the caliper....
side note***brakes need to be bled if the fluid in the reservoir falls below acceptable level(indicated by horizontal line)...
hope this helps and i have had to replace a caliper a few months ago, so i hope that i have not left anything out.. good luck and im sure others will add.amend what i have said

i would doubt it, it should come off with bolts?
