hey guys, I found an edelbrock triple two barrell intake. The guy is asking $300 for it, but I can talk him down some. My question is, would this be a decent manifold? I mean, I'm sure my performer RPM makes more power, but what do you think about the cool factor? any input?
I saw a tri power manifold on ebay, holley with three two barrels also holley all complete going for 1500 dollars last night. so i think its probobly worth it and i think you'll get plenty of power.
I was just thinking about the carbs and the linkage. If I went brand new, I'd probably be into it another $1000, but used, I don't know. Also, my truck needs to be a regular driver, not daily, but fairly regularly, so how about gas mileage. As long as I'm over 10 MPG, I'll be OK
I dont know but its either gonna be what you want out of a motor or its gonna be what you settle for.....thats how i look at it. I personally would go for it you only live once so do whats gonna make you happy with the engine otherwise your gonna look at it and say "its nice but......."
i would go for it. i was kicking myself for not getting the dual quad set up. i'm finally going to get it ! you got to do what makes you happy ! worry about the details like tuning the stuff later !!!
DSC motorsport has the linkage for $150 and the fuel log for $90, and carbs can't be too hard to find. I think I;m going to do it, I hope he hasn't sold it by the time I get there tommorow. Any more input would be great.
Got to go with the cool factor. A six pack to go!!!! Well, the center carb is the one that operates all the time, like a 4 bbl keep your foot out of the accelerater and you may get some decent mileage.
Mako is right....it uses a progressive linkage..and runs off the center 2V..as you push down on the gas pedal then the back carb opens and then at WOT the front opens..
Now the down side...they can be a SOB to get tuned right..and to get Sincronized!
But..Ya do have that COOOOOL factor!-Russ Good Luck!

If the linkage is adjusted properly, both end carbs open up at the same rate. Otherwise you'd have the front cylinders leaner than the rear. I have a setup, that's going on a 331 stroker in an 89 Ranger, this is the way it works. You don't HAVE to run the factory style fuel log, fuel supply can be done in other ways too. The original list # Holleys aren't available for the 3X2, but you can use the ones made for the Mopar six pack. Or just buy a complete small block 3x2 setup from Mustangs Unlimited for $1300 and use the carbs, linkage, aircleaner from it.

Baddadyour probably right on the 2 end carbs opening at the same time..
I remember with my 67 GTO with tri power running it different ways..and I got the best all around performance with the 3 carbs all in sinc...
But I have seen them set up all different ways..and if you stop and think about it..the old side draft carbs if they werent in sinc..one bank would run richer or leaner than the opposing one..
Just thought about something..I'll have to check on when I make my trip to Cal. in Aug...years ago I left a six pack setup at my Dads house..
It was an Offy intake with 3 Stromberg 97s on it, for a V8 flat head that I had for a 41 ford woody I once owned..Shoot the carbs were even chrome!
Forgot about that all these years! and thanks for the 3 duece Chat!! its been along time for me..just getting back into it! Happy 4th.--Russ
One other thing about the six pack that I remember ( haven't had the chance to run mine yet) is the sound they make ( with quiet mufflers) - there's nothing else sounds like it ! I STILL recall the sound of a Pontiac setup a friend had back in the 70's, AWESOME..
LOL!! ya i know what you mean....With a good air cleaner..they sound like they will suck the fillings out of your teeth!!!
I have never...(couldnt afford it) Ran 2 4vs...I hear to that is awesome??
Well Im going to take a dip in the pool...at my Aunts house ..and watch the fire works..talk too ya later-Russ--BTW-putting a pool in at my house! Just havent got it all out of the 400lbs box yet!! LOL!! Be Good!!-Russ
