i just bought a 60 f-100 4x4 . vin tag says it come out with 292! prior owner said it was a 390. the block has a 352 stamped on front right of block. can anyone give me a clue on what motor i have or how to tell. going to do a off frame restore on truck but need to know what motor this is.1 clue is front 2 plugs face rearward , back 2 plugs face forward any help wouldbe appricated thanks again

The engine you describe is not a 292. Probably is an FE block.

if it has the 352 cast into the block it could be anything from a 352 on up to a 427. definately not a y block

The engine in it, is the car 390 V-8 engine, the valve lift was different to provide a higher compression, but i don't know how high, probably 140lbs per cylinder, but it's a 390 dear, that's a good engine BTW...Janet
