Question Best minor touch up paint?

I have a couple minor nicks on my front bumper and don’t think I need it completed repainted. What is the best sort of touch up paint that I could use for a black 04 f150? Would my dealer have some?

I heard several warnings against using Sharpie because it was supposed to turn purplish and even discolor the paint it touched, but I had a 2001 black PT Cruiser, and a black 2003 Firebird, and used Sharpie on both of them with no problem.

What would be the best way to touch up a 1 foot long scratch down the drivers door, it's down to the white colored primer below. I dont want to use the bottle of touch up paint because trying to fill a line thats about 1/16" wide is impossible with a brush similar to what you would find in a white out bottle. Is there some type of fine point pen available that has factory paint in it that anyone knows of?

Maybe you should try using just your typical "paint marker" I know they have different tip widths. Another alternative is the color matching wax. I have used the black and it works wonders. It may just take a few coats in order to hide the scratch completely.

I picked up a bottle each of the Ford touchup paint (One Dark T. Red, one Az. Beige). from the dealer. I had a small rock chip on my bumper, and after using the Ford touchup paint, I have trouble finding where the chip used to be. Price was $6.66 a bottle, but the guy at the parts counter changed it to $6.00 each because the 6-6-6 creeped him out.

I had a bad scratch like yours and decided on fixing it the right way. I took mine to a body shop. Unfortunately it cost about $600 for repair and blend the panels properly. I was lucky my insurance paid for it.. It looks great and you can't tell it was ever scratched.

Good luck.

Smile Try Duplicolor

Try Duplicolor Scratch Fix. http://www.duplicolor.com/products/scratchfix2in1.html
It comes in a small bottle with a brush AND a brller ball applicator for fine scratches. They also have a nice kit available that includes primer, clearcoat and a sanding block with papers. I used their spray products to fix a minor boo-boo on my '99 Red Lariat and you would be hard pressed to find where I did this due to the exact color match.

I picked this up at my local AutoZone

And make sure you get the exact paint code off your sticker! Toreador red is not all the same and neither is oxford white.
