I started to replace my spark plugs and on the first plug, I couldnt get it to budge. I tried for everything I was worth and it wouldnt move. Any tips to remove overtightened/seized plugs?w
Thanks
You're lucky. With everyone else, the one that's impossible is always the last one. I've never actually heard of it being the first one.
If you're using a U-joint, try and make the joint as straight as possible. That will help transfer more torque to the plug. Try spraying some Parts Breaker or some kind of penetrating oil around the plug. If that fails, try heating the block around the plug with a torch. But be careful not to set anything important on fire. ;-)
Aside from that, take it to a garage and say, "Here, have fun with it." The aggravation of dealing with a stuck plug or bolt is sometimes not worth the cost of paying someone else to do it.
I had the same problem on mine, only I thought it was coming out when it was actually rounding the head off. I tried penetrating oil, heating the engine to normal temperature and a torch, but nothing worked. I was finally able to get a metric socket a hair smaller than the standard one and knock it on with a hammer. Then, with some gentle but firm coaxing, I was finally able to break it loose. Keep trying because if it won't come out, you might have to pull the head and have the plug drilled out...
