PSD Difference across Models

Help me to understand the differences in the PSD that I would find in a PU Truck 250/350 and an Excursion or a Van.

Thanks
Marc

The pickups/cab-chassis and excursions all, when equipped with the 6.0 PSD, are 325 horsepower and 560 ft lbs of torque. The econoline is equipped with the International VT365 (variable turbo, 365 cubic inch) which has a smaller turbocharger and is de-fueled significantly in comparison to the Power Stroke. It is on the same block, however, is quite a bit weaker. Im not sure of the actual HP and TQ ratings, im sure someone here will have them.

The engine in the van is also a PSD, but you are correct that it is detuned. Ford does not sell any diesels under the International name. HERE is a link that shows that it is a PSD in the van, not an International. It is different than the PSD in the trucks and X, but it is not a VT365. With the 7.3 PSDs you couldn't fit an intercooler in the van. There is an intercooler in the van with the 6.0 but I imagine that it is smaller than the one used in the pickups and the X. I would also guess that the radiator is smaller.

The VT365 may seem to be weaker than the PSD, but this is not the case. International governs the engines at lower RPM, therefore the HP is lower. Peak torque is 460-620 (depending on the tuning) at 2600 RPM in the VT-365.

Ah. Excuse my misinformation One of the techs that has been working on my truck told me that, very encouraging I assume then, most of the parts on the 6.0 truck engine and van engine are interchangeable?

Yes, most of the parts are the same. You can also use a lot of the International parts which I try to do as often as possible on my truck because they are usually about 1/2 the price of Ford. All of the PSDs are based on the International engine, but Ford doesn't sell an engine under the International label even in the F750.

it was my understanding that all the VT365s are the same (International and Ford). Only differences being the ECMs. Technically you could take the engine out of a Ford put it in an International w/ proper wiring harnesses and it will run all day long w/o any problems. The only differences i can see is the engine mounting other than that all the same. I do know Fords version uses some type of a different intake w/ a butterfly valve. All in all from the valve covers down are all the same.

The cooling system, injectors, and oil pan are different to my knowledge.

This just plain curiosity, I want to know all the differences.
What injectors, oil pan makes sense...what is the record for that system?

water pumps are the same. injectors are 2. oil pan could be because of clearance issues.

I know, at least for the T444E, the water pump has a coolant filter attached. Is that not the case with the VT365? I was assuming it was. All the electronics are different though.

Do you think it has the same software as its brother, maybe less fuel, less boost to bring the HP/TQ down...
