body glue questions????

body glue questions????
Hey guys, I'm going to undertake my first paint job on my 85 f-150. Before i paint I am going to patch the rear aprons (mine are rusted of course 
) I was talking to a buddy and he told me about a "glue" that you use instead of welding the panel on 
. He said that he has never used it before but it is supposed to be stronger and you don't run the risk of warping the panel. I don't have a welder but I can rent one from Home Depot if I have to. I was just wanting to know if any of you have used it before and how well it worked
