Bugshield install question
Anyone install the Ford low profile bugshield on their truck? Went to put mine on and can't figure out how to remove the grill. Dealer said to remove the four 10 mm bolts on the braces, pull down on the grill and it should slip in. Needless to say that did not work. Tried to remove the bolts that connect the grill to the hood but when I loosened the nut, couldn't get at the bolt head to keep it from spinning while turning the nut. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what year your's is or if that matters, but I just installed the Ford bug shielf on my 2004 SCrew last weekend.
Remove the four bolts that connect the grill to the hood. Then remove the 6 or 8 bolts on the inside of the grill along the top edge. Once you do that, the grill will slide forward and off.
Another piece of advice that got me, make sure you line up the holes on each end with the hood before you apply the protective tape that goes under the clamps on each end.

Do those really work? I would like to have a little less bug splat on my windshield, but I dont know if I trust them. I see trucks all the time with bug guards and their windshields are coverd with bugs.

What it does do, and well, is protect the leading edge of the hood. If/when a rock hits the leading edge, it tends to make a deep chip. If it hits further up on the hood, some of the force is reduce becuase it strikes at an angle and tends (but not always) to scratch the clear coat which is easier to fix. YMMV.
I won't own a truck without one.
