I know you have to fit the shield between the grill and the hood, but won't that scratch the paint? I really want a bug shield on my truck, but I haven't purchased one for that reason. Can someone ease my worries and explain how it doesn't scratch the paint?
cholmam,
if you want to protect the finish from scratches and some (not all) rock chipping, install the 3M clear film protection prior to bugshield install. you'll have the best of both worlds and ease of mind. My2Cent
I had a Lund bug deflector put on my '04 Screw. I now notice some wind noise that sounds like a flag flapping in the wind. I am thinking about removing it. Has this happened to anyone?
I put one on last week and noticed that it made the hood at the back where the hinges are move up and down and vibrate at high speed.
Made me wonder If I should remove it.

I installed the OEM ford high profile deflector....
Where there is metal contact with the hood, there is clear film protection to prevent scatches. If installed correctly, you should have zero problems!
If you have notice When you first click on this site , If you can notice on the right side . You will see -Print Shop- Below it you go too RecallS/TSB`S Go to TSB Database Lookup , go too your year , 2004 F150 , scroll down about half way and you will sea about Lunds . Granted its an early date , and I dont Know if they fixed it yet.
Thanks. I took my Lund off this weekend, and will drive it on the highway tomorrow, so I can see if my noise goes away. I was also getting the hinge movement at the rear of the hood. If this cures it, I guess I need to take the Lund back, and get the Ford model.
I have a silver/gray FX SC and I think the dark color detracts from the looks of the truck so I will probably get a clear one and paint the back of it with factory paint. Till I get one I'll probably spray PAM on the front end when I go to the lake. WORKS GREAT! To remove the bugs spray WD40 on them and let them soak, they will come off easily. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
