Help with '97 Exp CEL
Have a 1997 Explorer EB 5.0L. CEL came on awhile ago for an 02 sensor.
I got it replaced. I was advised to do both at once, but didn't have the money. CEL came on a couple months later with two codes. "engine rich" and "engine lean." Figured this was the result of the second 02 sensor going out. I put it off for a couple months, then took it to the mechanic. He didn't get the two errors I got but a different one.
P0443: Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction.
What the hell does that translate to?
My car tends to take a little longer to crank in the morning. Feels sluggish. Sometimes it feels as though it won't turn over, but eventually it does. It also tends to idle rough, especially if i have been driving for awhile on the freeway. When I come up the hill to my house (has a nice grade to it) my engine tends to smell rich.
A push in the right direction would be great.
