fuel filter
Love my 99 F250 crew cab 4x4 owned since new. Before I start crawling around under the truck, can anyone tell me where the fuel filter is.
Thanks,
JC
Not to sound glib, and not an owner of a F250 crew cab I should let someone else answer. But hey, my Excursion is in the shop again and I have nothing better to do.
Your steel fuel lines (likely) run along the left side frame rail. The filter is (likely) located about where the driver's door is and (probably) looks like a steel canister that looks like a can about 3-4 inches in diameter, 4 inches long and has 1/4" - 3/8" steel lines running out of each end. Dust the crud off and you'll see an arrow indicating flow direction. That's the filter.
Now getting it off is fun too. Head off to your parts store and get a quick release tool for the line. This aeronautic application to a truck just plum baffles me. A hose clamp ain't new millenium enough I guess. You'll need this gizmo to pop the filter off. The boys and girz at Pep boys will show you what you need.
For more fun, once you get the filter off, bloww the gas out in the opposite direction. EEEuuuu!!! And you paid good money for that gas too! Cheers...GeoQwest
