I don't know if this means anything but I'm trying to find out what I have.
1979 Ford 400
One thing you can possibly still do is to take that info to the nearest dealership and ask them if they can scare the info up for you.
Most Ford dealerships use FDCS/UCS computer networks, and some use ADP/R&R/etc networks using COMBAT (damned old), or ACES (not so old) or similar hookups, that can call up Ford HQ in Dearborn, Michigan, and grab/decode the info for you. Check in w/ the Service department first and foremost. They'll prolly do it for free, or at the most charge a small research fee.
Dunno if there's a definite stop date as far as getting a history from older vehicles, but there wasn't back when I had worked for FDCS (1999), and it's always worth a chance that the Service dep't might still have a dusty pile of microfische or old manuals in a backroom that can shake out the info for you.
Let me know how it turns out...

Reason: typo
By your vin number, it is a 351 2V (H) F150 4x4 from the Norfolk plant. That is assuming the motor is original. You can get a build sheet from Ford directly for free online. Try this link, fill out the form requesting a build sheet for your vin. You should get it in about 3 weeks. Good luck.
Hey Penguin,Welcome to FTE !
I guess you didn't know that we do that here ?
May I suggest having a look around to see what this site has to offer?

I'll get back to you once I catch up with some admin stuff.
That is a bucktag that you are reading.
That one lists the cab/body style/ vehicle options so the assembly line can verify the build the sheet information.
All those characters are pretty easy to decode.
Most Ford parts & service people of the new Millenium are ignorant to this stuff. In fact, I have 3 Ford dealership's that phone me to decode the old stuff.
F14 = F150 4x4
S = 400 2v
N = Norfolk
AG9707 = Consecutive build number = Built in Sept 77
34
6 = could this be a bad looking G ?
17 = confirmation wheelbase > all wheelbases start with 1 the 17 makes it 117
4 = Conventional Cab styleside
