I was able to change mine out thru the glove box. It was a tight squeeze but not too bad.

i've got a 97 F250 and this "take the whole dash off" requirement may be in my future (get no heat right now, and am just starting to track down the problem).

Is there any great resource out there for guidance on the "take off the whole dash" approach? i'm glad it isn't as bad as it sounds.

Now, once I get the whole dash off, are there other things that I should do as long as i'm in there?

Got an 88 F150 4x4. Heater core leaks.

Do I take off the dash or is there another way to get to the heater core?

Any information and how to repair would be greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cindy

You open the glove box and take it out.
There are 7 or 8 screws that you take off a black plastic cover in the cab behind the glove box. Then you will see the heater core.
Go under the hood and undo the heater core hoses and push the heater core into the cab.
Go into the cab and you can pull it out.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

That is just some basic instructions from what I remember from doing it a few weeks ago. It's a pretty easy job. Should maybe take 30 mins. Good luck!

Thanks, appreciate it.
Yes, my hubby was impressed. Very proud.
My hubby transports cars out of state so he is gone alot.
Searching thru this great site, I've also found other easy fixes I can do.
Thanks again.
