Banks Power Pack

I am about the take the plunge. My main question is weather to get the power pack alone or power pack with the ottomind module? I have 03' SD with a V-10. If anyone has the ottomind module, how much power does it add and what are the main gains over a stock system?

If you're still under warranty I wouldn't put any chip or programmer on. If that doesn't matter then go with a Diablo or Superchips. Might as well get a little performance out of the deal. Be sure to tell the chip ppl you have headers/catback. Take the chip out if you ever go in for service. Also, order your Banks from a dealer not Banks. Should be cheaper.

V10man, my local ford dealer....yes my local for dealer sells and installs all the banks kits. And they recommend superchips. So that wont be an issue for me.....I asked them what ford thinks of this, they said "they authorize banks and banks only" As far as a chip or programmer the dealer will keep that quiet. It is nice to have a dealer that is not sticklers about having some fun with the truck.

I will buy and install the kit myself. The dealer wants $2800 without a chip. I can get it and install it myself for $1500 without a chip.

$1500 sounds about right. Banks gives great instructions with their kits. Plan on a weekend.

How well will the V10 run without any chip (Ottomind, Diablo, SC)? Any adverse effects?

Banks guys told me that I will run more free. I cannot put any kind of chip in my truck due to the sealed computer. Zero adverse effects. All the chip will do is advance timing and tranny shift points. I have to use a programmer either SCMT or when it comes out for the V10 diablo predator.

I'm right in the middle of installing the Banks Power Pack W/OttoMind and Transcommand on an 01 V10 4X4 Excurision, with 6" lift and 35" tires. A major road block occurred when I broke (3) stock header studs. What a $%&* to get out. I'm working on it when I can, but I figure 6-8 hours total. I'll keep you posted on performance and if it was worth the money.

I would like to mention that after the install is complete, with or without any kind of chip, that you should give the computer a couple of hours drive time to adjust the fuel mixture before experiencing very noticible performance gains. The O2 sensor input will be read repeatedly by the computer and the fuel mixture will be adjusted accordingly over time.
