Suitable wheels

I am once again thinkin about wheels and tires. Maybe I should post in suspension but I'm looking for wheels that would look good on the 77. A friend got me interested in Weld Racing "Pro Stars" but they aren't rated for truck weight.

Any suggestion on 15"X8"? Most of what I see is too gaudy for my taste or in larger size diameters. I'm paranoid about going to 16" or 17". Dont know what it would do to the steering/tire wear.

Good thread. I am wondering the same thing for future reference. I know where you are coming from with the too gaudy. Bling bling doesnt always go well a classic look sometimes. Plus you dont want something looking fragile on a masculine looking truck.

Same here, I have the original 15 x 8 with the Ford crested logo in the center and I was thinking about going to 255/75/15 instead of 235/75/15 but I am not sure if they fit.

I'm pressently running 235r60x15's on the front and they wear well. The 275r60x15's on the back however are worn out in the middle. Back to 255's out there I think. my existing rims are OK but one is slightly out of round and they are an off brand. (see gallery).

I just put 15x8 American racing wheels on with 275r60x15's on, had the same problem finding wheels. Didn't want the silly looking big wheels(even though my daughter thought I should have spinners on it). I went to sears and they took a bunch of different display wheels out & put them next to the truck to see how it would look. So I had a better idea how things would look before spending money.

Jim

btw, pics are in my gallery

Nice looking truck. I'm considering Centerline Hell Cats.

http://www.centerlinewheels.com/whee..._id=8&sw_id=52

or the Convo Billet Star

It seems I can get them cheaper from Centerline than Summit Racing.

The rims you choose are pretty much up to individual tastes. I looked for several years before I found the perfect rims for my truck, I got them for free on a 74 F100 parts truck. They are 74 vintage "Appliance" brand rims, they are 15 x 8.5, and I have 275/60R15 tires on all 4 corners. The backspacing on the rims is good enough that the tires don't rub any suspension bits on the front, but I wouldn't want to be lowering my truck or the tires will scrub the fenders.

See gallery for pictures. There are before and after pictures, took lots of work to polish the rims to get them looking like new again.

Beartracks, I like those centerlines. My wife's uncle has them on his truck (a newer chevy). They look much better in person, but I was afraid to buy anything without seeing it on my truck first.

It's amazing how picky an old Ford owner can be! I think I'm going with the Hell Cats and new BFG Radials.

Bear tracks,
My friend has the hellcats on his chebby and after 8 months, the clearcoat is coming off. BTW, it was stored this past winter(Maine).
I think I'm gonna go with weld scorpio wheels 8's on front, 10's on back with probably 29-12.50 hoosier pro streets on the back.
good luck.
James

Beartracks- If you want to unload your old tires and wheels let me know. Not sure what it would cost to ship.
