I KNOW I KNOW our lab used to dig GRAVES soooo we built ourselves a deck and let him dig away under there. he was just looking for some nice cool dirt.
one day we were sitting in just the right spot and we saw him go under and disapear it was funny as heck!
dig away old dog dig away!
I'll second the invisible fence. I trained my 2 greyhounds on an invisible fence and had no problems. If you can train 45 MPH dogs to stop for an invisible fence you can train any dog. FYI, our neighbors had 9 outdoor cats and we had deer in our yard daily. Neither of our 2 dogs ever tried to get out of the yard.
After they got out again today (still looking for two of them. How responsible does that make ME feel??), I went and bought about 300 lbs of quick-crete or something like that. It's setting now. Tomorrow I'll finish it off and fill the last hole as well. I'm sure they'll try digging in a new area.
I hadn't thought of COOKING the peppers into oil...sounds deviously wonderful!
The pepper spray sounds easier..I wonder if it's cheap. All I have is some Mace. The dogs dont seem to care much about that.
Surgical removal of the front legs. 100% guarantee on that one. I AM JUST KIDDING! I am a dog owner and my Jack russel mix digs for grubs, snakes, moles etc. I once had a raised dirt trail for 120' where she tracked a underground rodent. I cant tell you how happy it made me to have her present the reward of her hard labor to me as kind of like a "see master, digging is how I, your dog, do my Christmas shopping" gift.
I havent had any deep holes thank the Lord but the hundred little ones make up for it.
I am trying the pepper spray thing. Sounds like a plan to me.
the pepper spray is not that expensive, its cheaper than the 5 bags of concrete you probably bought and it works but use it sparingly at 1st to see their level of resistance...than way you dont hurt the poor guys noses....it does work tried and true according to my friend.
I read this in dog traning book and they say to bury in the holes large ballons filled with air and when Rover comes to dig again boom the ballon busts and scares him away. I've never tried this My german shepard lets me live in the house with him!
