I have a 97' f-150 with 115,000 i am getting ready to do the front brakes for the fifth time they keep warping it starts out as a slight warp at high speeds and gets worse over time i have used oem parts and aftermarket too was wondering if anyone else has had this problem the dealerships don't help
I HAVE A 99 150 4X4, I am on my 3rd set of pads in a year and 1/2. Rotors kept warping. It's annoying! This last Time I bought the higher end after market rotors and the best pads, and new calipers. So far so good, but I'll see when I tow my boat, and they get hot. I just might go for the high end 100.00 apiece slotted rotors and high tech pads. Was told the grade of pads have alot to do with it.

I had a similar problem. I bought oem parts also and while i was prepairing to replace the rotors and cleaningup the area I was working the rotor was on the bench and I could see the rust starting to show on the rotors. I switched to different rotors which were impergnated with a touch of nickle and i think I solved my problem. you need to check to see if your useing rotors thatwont form that rust when you setm your car up for a few days rust forms between the rotor and the brake shoe and your problem goes down hill from there tscinta
Hi tscinta and welcome to the forum
Do you know what brand of rotors you used?
grsgrndr are your rear brakes working properly? No seized wheel cylinders? Adjusted ok? If not, they can cause the front brakes to overheat because they are doing all the stopping.
2001 Supercrew 4X4 5.4 77,000 miles
I have replace 3 times, factory at 30,000, (about)
bought some rotors and pads from AUTOZONE (CRAP)
replace at 50,000, replaced with high end rotors and high end pads (life time)
I started to feel the pumping around 77,000 on the brakes, rotors warped
I feel that it was torque on the wheels since I did not retorqued at that time
installed new rotors and pads, have the old ones will have turned later date
(will be easier to changed out the brakes)
All the post you got to me seems like good advise
apologize if this is too obvious but gently break in the new pads/rotors. 4 or 5 gentle stops from 25 to 30mph, then 3 stops from 35 or 40mph, then let the truck cool for at least an hour. Hot breakins will warp rotors. good luck.
i used raybestos rotors and their ceramic pads then ford put on their pads both warped a brake shop mentioned the back brakes not doing their part and putting all the braking to the fronts i'll check the backs also I torque the lugs at 100lbs Ithink that is what they are supposed to be
does anyone know if ford has issued a tsb on rotor replacement/torquing of bolts? i guess ford doesn't offer a "heavy duty" rotor for replacement for ticked off folks. sounds like they just ignore the problem. mine hasn't had any problems yet, [neither cracked doors] knock on wood. torquing is very important, and all 5 bolts evenly. i wonder if this is a problem with 250's SD also?
