king tritons post about song lyrics reminded me about a song i heard many moons ago. i believe the name of the song was "the international love song".
here are a couple of the lyrics:
sheet-on-ya, sheet-on-ya, sheet-on-ya,
in russia that's how they say i love you.
if i had my way,
i'd sheet-on-ya all day,
in russian that's how they love ya
Wanna-lay-ya, wanna-lay-ya, wanna-lay-ya,
in hawaii that's how they say i love you,
if i had my way,
i'd wanna-lay-ya all day
in hawaii thats how they love ya
there are several other verses from different countries. those are the only two i recall. i would have to say the song is at least 20+ years old. it is very funny to say the least. if anyone recalls this song or even has it, share it with the group.
*update It reminded of "Chief Kamanawanalea & His Royal Macadamia Nuts"
from the battle of the bands record by the turtles, but i can't find it and i can't seem to find the lyrics to it at all.

my earliest memory of listening to this song would be about early 1980-1981. i'm sure that song was a little older than that. it did not sound anything like the turtles or any old Rock. i would say it was more of a "folk-sie" tune. there might have even been an acordian in the band.
i'm going to check with some family members. more of the song is comming to mind.
i believe that "pooponya" is polish, ****onya is italian, i can't remember what country
"fartonya" is from. i'm telling you, it's a funny song and i'm ticked that this wonderful internet is not helping (i'm talking about search engines, not here).
equium
Are you sure you are not talking about my family?pooponya was my grandma, she couldnt help it she was old.Fartonya was my aunt who ate burritos all the time. The only one you have not mentioned yet,is my 400lb sister,Sitonyo or her husband Fellinonya.Or my ex-wife Cheatonya.
All kidding aside, you got to get the name of that song,You KNOW I want to hear it!
i just checked with one sister and she doesn't remember. i got 3 more sisters and 3 brothers to check with. not to mention the extended family. i'm going to see most of my family on the 4th of july for a party, i'll do some research then.
