351w No Power
You all have done a great job at helping me so far...I gotta hard one for yall now..unfortunately
. I just got done doing a swap from EFI to carb..I installed the Duraspark II ignition. currently..this is my setup.351w bored .60 over
Edelbrock performer intake
stock manifolds
Quadrajet Carburetor
Flowmaster 40 series
I dont know if any of these things play a part in my no power problem..but i just listed them incase
. My engine is a 1978 351w which i put in my 1986 ford f-150 that had a 302 fuel injected in it. Well anyways..i've been running my truck for the past 3 days now and it is very weak. It has NO torque whatsoever. It wont even spin wheels in gravels lol. It does have 33x12.50 mud tires so I can understand why it wouldnt spin wheels very easily but I thought the 351w was a torquey and strong running motor. It has a very rough idle..and it is even worse when its in gear..sometimes feeling like its getting ready to cut off. When driving it down the road it feels like when you step on the gas the RPM's dont rev up quickly for some reason. It has a c6 3spd tranny. Also when driving down the road its like you are at one set RPM..and you slowly increase in RPM's..no matter how much gas you give it (kinda a repeat from above ..sorry
). Hills..dont even wanna mention those lol..when I try going up hills I have to mash on it almost to make it up or bring the 4 barrel in so i can make it up top. I dont know what in the world is going on..I dont have the MAP sensor hooked up if this could be the problem... I didnt see the connector for it so I am assuming that it would have been in the whole EEC harness which i got rid of. Also..sometimes when i start it up there is a rattle in the bottom end..I know sometimes that this means that the bearings are bad..I did have the engine down..like oil pan..intake..and valve covers off..but i didnt loosen up the rods and mains. The engine is CLEAN as a whistle and carrys oil pressure all the way up between the A-L in the word normal in the Oil psi gauge. I've changed my oil 3 times to see if this would solve the problem..but still nothing..hopefully it will straighten out.Any help or comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time
